"Soor" is a Vajrayana Practice and
Ritual meaning "to help the deceased" This ritual is an
opportunity for the deceased to find guidance in the Bardo,
and an equal opportunity for those, relatives, friends or
sangha, conducting the ceremony, to express forgiveness and
compassion, and to find release and guide themselves in the
present. Through this practice, another's death may deepen
your own spiritual practice and understanding. Some
practitioners do Soor daily for all beings in the Bardo.
For a particular deceased person, Soor is usually done from
the time of death, at the time of death, daily for 49 days
or early in the morning. It is a peaceful, loving ritual
that allows one to do something really positive for the
deceased and for oneself. The ability to do this
effectively is enhanced by receiving the Chenrezig
empowerment, (The Buddha of Compassion).
