featuring the remarkable sounds of Tibetan singer and musician, Tenzin Choegyal. The concert will also feature local dance company, Hands, Heart and Feet, as well as percussion instrumentalists, ZenRasa. The purpose of the concert is to raise funds for the town of Kyegu in Tibet which is recovering from an earthquake measuring 7.1, killing over 3000 people, with 20,000 still missing or injured and destroying 90% of the town.
Tenzin Choegyal, who has delighted the Blue Mountains community in the past with his incredible voice and beautiful music, will once again return to the Blue Mountains for the concert. He will be coming directly from New York where he will be performing in another fundraising concert being organised there for the same cause. Hands, Heart and Feet are a well known local Dance Company who bring an extraordinary atmosphere to the stage. They have also kindly donated their time as well as ZenRasa, for this important event. Thanks to the generosity of these performers and the Blue Mountains Grammar School a high profit margin is ensured and therefore maximum funds will get directly to the people of Kyegu.
We also welcome our guest speakers for the evening, His Holiness the Dalai Lama's representative in Australia, from the Tibet Office in Canberra, Mr Sonam Dagpo and Paul Bourke, Executive Officer of the Australia Tibet Council. We will have a raffle with great prizes donated from businesses around the mountains, as well as a delicious dinner available, and of course our famous chai and cakes. There will also be a Dharma shop with lots of beautiful things to buy.
The members of Sakya Trinley Ling have been to this area and are deeply connected to the monastery and families there, and we are committed to doing whatever we can to assist in the relief and recovery of this devastating event. Because of the magnitude of the earthquake and the destruction we will continue to raise funds for the people of Kyegu for many years to come. We would like to invite the Blue Mountains Community to come on board and offer their support by enjoying a magnificent evening.
